Dude, where did my body go?
Did you ever look in the mirror and think, “what the hell happened?” I’m there. Happy New Year!
My body is going through another midlife crisis, but honestly, some of it is of my own making. Even though I exercise regularly I haven’t been eating well. Ever since I stopped bodybuilding competitions I’ve rediscovered the joys of dessert and take-out Italian food.
There are some physical changes that are beyond my control I’m not too happy about either, like my vision. I’ve been nearsighted since I was twelve, or as my ophthalmologist puts it, “legally blind”. But now I can’t see things close up either. My house is filled with cheap reader glasses I strategically keep near computers and anywhere I might want to read. At night, when I take out my contacts, I wear two sets of glasses just to see my phone. I’m that middle-aged person now.
My husband has had several friends experience some medical issues and it’s reminding both of us there are no guarantees in life, so we better live it to the fullest and treat our bodies better.
To that end, here are my three, fairly simple resolutions for 2023:
- Belly: Eat 2 cups of veggies daily
- Brain: Read 1-2 books per month
- Body: Take a dance class
The thing I’m most looking forward to is the dance class. I haven’t taken one since the pre-pandemic days. I’ll probably start it up in February, after I get my manuscript to the editor. (Here’s the latest update on my first novel: Accidentally deleted my manuscript…)
The goal I’m least looking forward to is eating my vegetables, because vegetables.
What are your goals?
Lisa 😉
P.S. – I promise to post more pictures to my Instagram account. I’ve been a total slacker since the pandemic!
