Too cool for school…or gymnastics

Austin, Texas is in an weather-related uproar today.  It was 25 degrees, or as people in Chicago would say, “it was a nice day.”  They delayed school for two hours for fear of the pending snow flurries and ice.  And in an ironic twist, it was sunny.

The kids got to school around 10 a.m., I pretended to do a shoulder workout with my dumbbells for about 20 minutes in my living room, and then headed over to Platinum Gymnastics, where I am attempting to learn badass Ninja moves for my fitness competition in July.  (I need a long lead time here.  My body was not designed to be a stealth warrior assassin.)

Anyway, I show up and it’s just me and my coach in the empty warehouse that is…25 degrees.  All their morning classes were cancelled for the non-existent snow flurries, so no one turned on the heat.  Further evidence that I am not a Ninja:  I said ‘peace out’ because it’s too cold to attempt back-flips when you can see your own breath!

In other news, earlier this week the Groundhog said we have six more weeks of winter.  (If he sees his shadow, it’s six more weeks of winter, if he doesn’t see his shadow, then it’s only two weeks until spring.)  I take some personal responsibility for this because I was born on Groundhog’s Day, so I feel bad that my personal desire for an early spring did not translate into Punxsutawney Phil’s climate prediction.

Of course, I really think Phil was overcompensating for last year, when he erroneously predicted an early spring and was sued by an Ohio prosecutor for “Misrepresentation of Early Spring” and for misleading the public with “prior calculation and design.”  The whole thing got stranger when Buckeye Chuck, another weather predicting groundhog, was promised immunity to testify against Punxsutawney Phil.  (I’m not making this up:  Wall Street Journal:  Prosecutor chucks book at groundhog for making bad prediction.)

So, basically, I’m blaming this cold snap and my gymnastics being cancelled on the lawyers.  Thanks.

How about you?  Are you SICK of this COLD WEATHER????  (If you live in Australia – Are you SICK of this HOT WEATHER?)

Lisa 😉

    1. Thanks! My mom and brother got me a photo session as a gift after losing the 50 lbs, and this is from that photo shoot.

  1. Lisa, Open a business- Groundhog pole dancing studios, we predict the weather and also shimmy up and down poles to music, usually in front of a picture of john belushy

    1. Interesting concept…but not the John Belushy part. I might dance in front of a picture of Henry Cavill a/k/a SuperMan though…and a pic of my other favorite Henri, my hubby 😉
