Gripes and Goodies
Usually on Tuesdays I do “Tell Me Something Good” to keep it positive. Today I’m doing Gripes and Goodies because I need an excuse to vent.
Gripes
Just got spanked by Johnny Law! I got a speeding ticket in a school zone. That was a $142 mistake. It didn’t matter that the flashing lights weren’t facing my direction (I was exiting the school) or that the lights turn off entirely at 3:10 p.m. and I got the ticket at like 3:09 p.m. He didn’t even give me a warning. OK, fair enough; I was speeding. But here’s the funny part.
My six-year-old daughter, Rylee, was in the car with me. Rylee is the kid who’s either going to be a police officer or a lawyer when she grows up. She loves rules and regulations and has been known to put herself in time out. This is the kid who will nark me out to my trainer if when I cheat on my diet.
Anyway, the cop comes up to my window and little Rylee’s like, “Mommy wasn’t speeding. Why did you pull her over?”
And I’m all, “Ha. Ha. Isn’t she cute, officer? Hush, little Rylee. Don’t make the nice officer angry.”
He goes back to his cop car and I can’t stop giggling. “Rylee, don’t talk to the policeman.”
He comes walking back to give me my ticket and a school bus passes us. The window is open and Rylee goes, “That school bus was going way faster than we were. Why doesn’t he give them a ticket?”
So I’m trying to shhh her but I’m laughing too because she’s the picture of innocence and it’s so out of character for her to question authority. Mr. Police Man did not think it was as funny as I did. Anyway…
Goodies
- I’m getting to hang out with my friend Regina a ton this month. We hung out all weekend and are planning a camping trip with the kids and are going to do our annual pumpkin patch excursion which we’ve done every year together since Rylee was 3.
- This morning Mel, Mama T and Katie had me in stitches at the gym. They were just going off on everything. Laughter is a great way to start your day.
- My website is getting upgraded! I was able to purchase ShesLosingIt.com (easier to remember than .net) and it’s in the process of being set up. Yay!
How about you? What gripes or goodies would you like to share?

Too bad you couldn’t at least have had this policeman pull you over — enjoy! http://www.upworthy.com/everyone-should-know-what-this-cop-has-done
