Progress Pics – 4 Weeks (well, 3 1/2) to Go!

Yes, I’m a little late on posting these progress pictures, but only because I wanted to redeem myself from my NJ binge weekend and drop the weight I gained.  I know you’re wondering what went down when Daniel found out, so here goes:

So, I went to Jersey with the best of intentions to stick to my diet.  I emailed my mom the approved food list which she promptly discarded and bought my favorite junk foods instead.  My theory is if you are falling, dive, so I dove right into the bucket of fried chicken and chocolate covered ice cream cones.  And then I experienced the complete trifecta of feeling bad:  emotionally (for letting myself down,) physically (alcohol and chocolate do awful things to your digestive tract when you haven’t eaten them in four months) and mentally (oh crap, what’s Daniel gonna say?)

I got back on Monday afternoon and my training session was the next day at 10 a.m., so that gave me a little time to self correct.  I ate clean from the moment the plane landed in Texas.  I went to the gym Monday night with my Arctic sweat gear on and did cardio for about an hour followed by the sauna for 15 minutes.   My friend at the 24 reception desk asked, “Did you cheat on your diet?  All the blog posts before your reunion mentioned food but the post about the reunion didn’t mention anything about food at all.”  “Oh, you noticed that omission?”  “Yeah…I’m sorry, don’t think I’m stalking you.”  I laughed out loud, “I started the blog in part to keep myself accountable, so it’s working.  I totally cheated and I’m trying to work it off before tomorrow.”

Tuesday morning I was up at 3:30 a.m.  Henri looked at me getting my sweats on.  “I love you, but you’re nuts,” he said rolling over and promptly snoring.  Did my cardio and sauna.  Even pulled my own Jedi Knight trick and went to my first tanning session.  (If you can’t lose it, tan it.)

10 a.m.

“I read your blog post about your reunion.  It looks like you had fun.”  “Uh huh.”  “Did you get compliments for your weight loss?”  “Uh huh.”  He didn’t comment on how I looked.  Good!  He didn’t notice the weight gain!  It also helped that I wore a loose T-shirt instead of my usual tank top to hide the belly flab.

“How are your abs?”  Oh shit.  “They’re gone,” I said not looking at him.  The first place I gain weight is my stomach so my muscle tone was now completely hidden.  “Gone?”  I lifted my shirt to my belly button.  “I cheated on my diet,” I mumbled, avoiding his gaze.  “I was afraid that would happen.  I gave you a cheaters weekend last week so you wouldn’t do this.”  I said nothing.  “Was it one meal?  A few?”  “All weekend.  You don’t want to know, you’ll just get mad.”  “Tell me.”  I confessed it all and he didn’t say anything for a minute.

“I’m not going to call you out;  I see you feel bad.  What’s done is done.  At least it happened four weeks out and not the week before.  You’re going to have to do 45 minutes of cardio for the next six days, eat clean, and hope that you come in right for the show.”  He shook his head.  I felt so bad, like I disappointed my coach.

“You look better this time around than you did for your first show, even four weeks out.  Please eat clean from now on.  You might have a shot at placing if you stay focused.”

I hope I didn’t just kill my chances after working so hard.  I’ve kept up with everything since then and my abs are pretty much back now.  Only 25 days to go…wish me luck at staying focused.
