New Motivation
I’ve been working out at weird times and mostly at Metroflex instead of 24 so I haven’t seen the 4 a.m. peeps in a while. But on Monday I was there and a whole lot of people are kicking butt! You are not supposed to compare yourself to anyone else because it can drive you crazy if you are turning it into a competition. Remove the competition part and I find comparisons really motivating.
My one friend starting lifting and she lost 11 lbs! She has been going to the gym for over a year but this month was a breakthrough for her. Another friend also lost 11 lbs using a plan from the Dr. Oz show. A third friend dropped 1.5% body fat and gained lean muscle mass. They all look fantastic!
Then there’s me.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m stronger now than I’ve ever been. My injury feels better and I’m lifting with better form. I lost the 5 lbs of holiday cookies. And yet.
Yet...
I can’t help thinking, how much better my month would have been if I hadn’t cheated on my diet. Mel said I could drink 1-2 Diet Cokes, but I’m pretty sure she meant 1-2 cans, not liters. She said I could have creamer in 1 coffee, but I’ll bet she meant 1 cup and not 1 pot of coffee with creamer.
So now I’m drinking my water. I prepped my foods for the week, so all I have to do is heat them up. Your abs are made in the kitchen, not the gym, so I’m getting my act together and sticking to my meal plan, rice flavored paste and all.
I was only really putting in about 85% effort and these women were giving it their 100% and have the results to prove it. And if they can do it I can do it too. I have done it in the past. Their accomplishments provided me the swift kick in the a** I needed to stop playing at training and really train. So thanks ladies of 24 Hour Fitness! You rock and I will join your successes next month!
How about you? Are you giving it your 100% effort? If not, why not start today?

I am really motivated, but I’ve been so derailed from being sick. Today is the first day in 6 days that I’ve eaten more than crackers. I haven’t been working out b/c I haven’t had the energy to sit on the couch let alone lift heavy things. I want to workout and give my 100%!
Cindy, you were sick! Your body needed the rest. I had no excuse other than laziness. Now that you are feeling better you will get back on track 🙂
I am giving it my all!… hmm could be the whole stand on stage in a bikini and stripper heels in 9 or so weeks though! That’s certainly motivation in and of itself!
Heck yeah! Which show are you doing?
UFE Spring Bash in Mississauga Ontario (way up here in Canada) April 13. 9 weeks 1 day, 18 hours to go! OH MY
I’m definitely not giving it 100%… yet. I really should start, now. I’m slowly getting there.. I think I’m at about 90% effort.
Don’t be a slacker like me! Give it your all! 😉
I am giving it 100% 5-6 days a week at the gym 🙂
Good for you!
Oh it’s being brought! LOL
I know – you always motivate me!!!
Thanks, looks like we motivate each other!!!
