#ShesLosingIt Get Cooking Challenge

This year, I want to encourage as many people as possible to get healthy, which means I’m going to focus on what I know about getting in shape.  Over the years I’ve tried tons of yo-yo diets, exercise videos, and heck, even ran a few marathons, but it wasn’t until I started following the techniques used by professional bodybuilders that I truly saw attainable results that made me gain the muscle and lose the fat.

People ask me all the time how I lost the weight and kept it off.  The secret is that I follow a method.  My SLI Method is kind of tongue-in-cheek.  It stands for She’s Losing It Method, which coincidentally spells out slim.  It is basically everything I learned about nutrition and fitness by doing close to a dozen bikini competitions (and winning too!) that I’ve broken down into bite-sized nuggets that are easy for my clients to follow and replicate in their own lives.

What is the SLI Method?

The SLI Method is made up of three parts:
  • Belly  – nutrition
  • Body – exercise
  • Brain – motivation and goal setting
This month let’s focus on the belly portion.   I’ve developed a challenge called #ShesLosingIt Get Cooking!  One of the biggest and most effective changes anyone can make if they want to shed some extra pounds is to do their own cooking.  I’ll go into the “why” in a minute, but first, here’s a nifty calendar for you to follow if you’d like to participate.

Join the challenge!

How Do I Participate?

Participating is easy!  Print out the calendar for yourself or just download it to your phone/computer so you can follow along all month.  If you’d like to enter for a chance to win a copy of my book, “She’s Losing It!” here’s what to do:

  1. Post calendar on your social media
  2. Hashtag #ShesLosingIt and #SLIMethod
  3. Email your # of entries to me at sheslosingit.net@gmail.com by 4/1/18 for a chance to win a copy of my book.  The winner will be announced 4/10/18.

Why cook?

Pre-packed, processed and in many cases restaurant food has a ton of extra sugar, salt and fat, which in turn adds unwanted pounds to your body.  When you do your own cooking using whole, unprocessed foods you eliminate most of that.
Cooking at home also saves you money because you’re not paying tax, tip and gas money to drive somewhere.  If you are a person who eats out a lot (this includes fast foods, restaurants and extras like convenience stores for spur-of-the-moment snacks and coffee shop drive-thru) try this:  Put the money you would normally use to eat out in a jar or an envelope.  At the end of the month see how much money you saved and then spend it on something cool like a massage or a babysitter so you can have a night out.  Whatever it is, make it non-food related and important to you.

Food prep
It’s a new month.  I challenge you to eat clean and get cooking.  Feel free to tag me in your posts.  Encourage your friends and family to cook this month too – there’s fun in doing things together.  Remember to post #ShesLosingIt and #SLIMethod for a chance to win a copy of my book.
Looking forward to seeing your pics!
