Bodybuilding Competition Week 9 – Let God & Let God

This marks the 9 week countdown until my next bodybuilding bikini competition, called the Drop Zone, on April 30.  I would LOVE to show you my weekly progress pictures, as I have done in the past, but as this is a competition a certain amount of secrecy is required, so here’s a sneak peak.

(Don’t worry, I’ll post everything when the show is over.)  The twelve week countdown to a bodybuilding competition can really feel like a pregnancy; each competition is its own little baby.  The first trimester (weeks 12-9) are very exciting.  You’re losing weight and making gains and seeing progress.  The final trimester (weeks 4-1) are focused on the glamorous aspects – the posing, the bikinis, the actual show day.  But the middle trimester?  Well, the middle sucks.  The excitement of starting is over and the end game seems so far away and you’re just lifting heavy and slogging through your meal plan.

This “Middle Sucks” experience is true not just for competition prep, but also for life in general.  Sometimes things just aren’t going your way and everything seems like a struggle.  These are the times it’s important to let go and let God.  I don’t want to give the impression that I’m super-religious, because I’m not, but in my heart and soul I truly believe that God has a plan for every person and that obstacles are put in your way as part of His greater plan.  Even though things will get hard, remind yourself that you’re just in the middle of the story and God has a spectacular second act planned for you.

In this video I talk about some of my own struggles and how bodybuilding has been like a gift from God for me.  If you’re feeling down, or in a rut, I hope this video cheers you up and motivates you to push past the obstacles in your way.
