Make It Happen

Some days you’re on fire, kicking butt and taking names.  Other days?  Eh…you’re not feeling it.  How you handle the “not feeling it” days will determine your success with your fitness goals.

For example, I’ve been TOTALLY distracted the last few weeks because I’m going to be on American Grit on FOX and have not been thinking about much beyond that.  This is driving my family and trainer a little bit nuts.

Reality keeps interfering with my Reality TV.  Yesterday we were finally given the clearance to talk about the show online and I was madly trying to figure out how to share, post, tweet, screenshot and link things and that’s when my son said, “Mommy, I feel sick.”  He’s been throwing up ever since, poor little guy.  #MomLife

Also, today I had to complete a major pain-in-the-@$$ paperwork project for our real estate business.  I was really tempted to call the government agency requiring this BS, redundant paperwork and say, “Look, you don’t understand.  I’m going to be on a reality TV show; I can’t concentrate on this right now.”

Ask me how much they would have cared?  Zero.  Zero f**** given.  And you know who would care even less about me wanting to slack off?  My trainer, Robin.  Negative 10 f**** given for any reasons to not get workouts in or follow the meal plan when I’m less than 10 weeks away from my next bodybuilding competition.

I’m sure there are days when you are distracted by something in your life you’d much rather pay attention to than what you’re supposed to focus on.  Those are the days you call out sick.  No, those are the days you have to dig in and get passionate about your goal, so make sure it’s one that’s gonna light you up.  For me, it’s winning my next bikini competition in April, which requires strength training, clean eating and cardio.  To make it happen I rely on a few tricks:

Overcoming Procrastination Obstacles

  • When the alarm rings I first visualize myself standing on stage posing and then winning a sword.  Then I remind myself that my competitors are already on the treadmill.Weigh in
  • I weigh myself first thing when I wake up and send a picture of it to my trainer to hold myself accountable.  He’s a self-proclaimed @$$hole if I’m heavier than I should be.  Most days it’s easier to follow the meal plan than to deal with the punishment of a God-awful leg workout from an angry trainer at 5 a.m.
  • When I’m on the treadmill I used delayed gratification to help me finish my sprints.  If I can do 15 minute sprint intervals than I can go on Instram for my 5 minute cool down on the elliptical as a reward.Text me

As for my day job stuff, I left my phone in my bedroom to avoid social media and drank a cup of coffee.  I’m Type A.  Give me a cup of coffee and a deadline and I’m your gal.

And my little guy is feeling better.  We had lots of cuddle time and caught up on Nick Jr. shows.

And when he took a nap….

I found more video clips of the reality TV show I’m on!!! Like this one:

OK, I’m done talking about the show now.  For real.  For today…

Thanks!
