Emotional Eating and Show Prep
I’m feeling nervous today. My mother had been doing well; back to her old self and laughing again. She was even cracking jokes about my show prep.
I was posing in front her bathroom mirror (formerly my bathroom mirror before she moved in with us,) when she looked at me and said, “You look pretty hot. You should wear that bikini to a restaurant and get a free meal. Oh wait, you can’t eat anything. Ha!”
But it’s been gradually getting more difficult for her to breathe. Yesterday was a really bad day, so I called her oncologist and had her CT scan moved up from March 11 to today. Once that is done we can hopefully get the fluid on her lungs drained in the afternoon. Last time they removed over a liter.
Hospitals make me nervous and when I’m nervous I eat chocolate. But I can’t do that this time. At my 5 a.m. workout Robin and I had to do a spontaneous meal plan for the day. (Between the labs, tests and wait time it will be about 3-4 hours there.) My food is already prepped, so I’m switching out turkey for fish so I don’t have to stink up the waiting room, and we agreed upon one (1) Cookies & Cream Quest Bar for my nerves. It’s a big improvement over the three pack of chocolate chip muffins I used to eat on chemo days.
My mom can’t take anything for her nerves; she has to have the procedure on an empty stomach. But I’m bringing her Boost to drink after the test.
In separate news, today’s forecast is ice and rain mix, because the very best time to drive someone to the hospital who uses a walker is on the one day per year when Austin is cold.
Please send her positive vibes today.
