Motivation to be FIERCE

Dress for Power

Do you ever feel meh when you go to the gym?  Me too.  Lately I’ve been feeling frumpy and my outfits were reflecting it.  That’s when I stumbled upon Shine Athletica.  This is a startup company out of Fort Worth, Texas and was founded by Heather Warner via Kickstarter.

All clothes are made in the USA and have motivational words including Fierce, Runner, Pusher, Peace and Love printed on them.  Heather sent me the yoga pants to review and I chose the word FIERCE, not so much because I feel this way at the moment, but because it’s what I aspire to become.

The fabric is really comfortable and, unlike some other pants, they didn’t slide down when I was doing deadlifts.  Which is great, ’cause how can you feel fierce if you think you’re looking like a plumber, right?  I also like that there’s a little pocket to hold your key if you go running.  There are a variety of styles and sizes, and prices range from $39.99 to $53.99.  I’d definitely recommend this if you are in the market for some new fitness clothes and don’t want to break the bank.

A Final Moment of Zen

Sometimes we do things that are difficult, like training, going back to school, or trying to balance work and family.  In the middle of that effort, we often ask, “Why am I doing this?”  My mother, diagnosed with advanced lung cancer, has been asking herself each week, “Why am I doing chemo, again?”  Last week was particularly rough; hair loss and sickness almost daily.   The doctor asked her if she wanted to quit.  “No; I want to live,” she said, because my mother is FIERCE.  Today she got her answer to why she does this.  The one tumor in her lymph node disappeared and the ones in her lung are shrinking.

How about you?  What do you do when you want to feel fierce?
