I Have Authority Issues
So…I have authority issues. Why am I telling you this? Because I have to tell you 7 things about myself as part of being nominated again for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award! Oh snap!
Thank you so much Annely from Annely’s Fit Mama Blog for nominating me for this blogger award (my 4th nomination – yahoo!) I’ve been following her blog for a while; it’s pretty damn inspiring! She is serving in the Air Force and is a wife and mom…and is training for her first bikini competition too.
The Rules for this Award:
1. Thank the person who nominates you.
2. List 7 things about yourself.
3. Nominate 15 bloggers and inform them.
Seven Things About Me:
- I almost died on my honeymoon (twice, actually) because I have authority issues. The first time was when Henri and I were hiking the Nepali Coast on a very steep cliff and Henri said, “Don’t step there, it’s slippery.” Well guess where I just had to step? And as I plunged towards my death, I thanked God that Henri was able to grab hold of my backpack and pull me up to safety. (He never lets me live that one down.)
- Perhaps I will give a T-shirt to my trainer, Daniel, that says, “If at first you don’t succeed, do what your trainer told you to do the first time.” See, I don’t listen to him either; at least not the first time around, especially if it involves my diet. But after he calls me out like an errant child I will eventually do what I’m told.
- This authority-issue thing goes a while back. In high school religion class (I went to Catholic school) I would argue with my teacher just to be a smart ass. Once on a test I wrote, “True*” followed by a little note, “I’m writing ‘true’ because I want 100% on this test, but we both know that the real answer is false.” “Miss Johnson, come here, please.” Uh oh. Ask me how well that * went over.
- Sometimes I just can’t stop myself. “I like my job, I like my clients, I like my co-workers just fine; I just don’t like working for you.” That’s really not a good thing to say to your boss. And yet, it felt so wonderful flowing out of my mouth.
- The second time I almost died on my honeymoon was when we arrived at the end of the trail and saw an enormous waterfall forming a stunningly gorgeous pond beneath it. Signs that read, “No Swimming, You Will Die” meant nothing to me. I dove right in. After everyone saw that I survived about a dozen other people joined us. It was grand.
- If you really want me to do something, tell me it can’t be done. Most of my friends and family have figured this reverse psychology thing about me by now and like to mess with me because they will say things in such a way so I can’t figure out if they really want me to do something or really want me not to do something.
- Paybacks are a bitch because my kids are LOADED with the rebel-without-a-cause thing and they drive me nuts with it every day. Oh well. Karma.

Thanks, Lisa! I will get on this post and paying the nomination forward this evening. I also have some authority issues. Mostly, I can’t handle just being told HOW to do something, and heaven forbid someone try to step in and do it FOR me. Nope, I gotta figure it out myself. Even if it takes f.o.r.e.v.e.r. 🙂
Amen sista!
Oh my! Thanks so much! I’ll
Pay it forward first chance I have to
Sit down at the computer! And I also

Ahahaha. Oh wow! I am the same way… as soon as someone tells me “You can’t/shouldn’t/don’t do that” I can’t get it out of my head until I actually do it. haha
Isn’t that always the way? 😉
Thank you so much! 🙂
You’re welcome! Love your blog!
