Food Journal

Do I really eat all that?

My husband has been bugging me for years to keep a food journal.  “It will help  keep your diet on track,” he says.  “You probably don’t even know what you’re eating,” he adds.

“Ok, honey,” I always reply.

I will never keep a food journal.

“This is the online food journal you’ll be keeping,” says Daniel.  Oh great.  He and my husband are in cahoots.

“You’ll need to update it every day.  There’s a diet in there, but that’s not what I want you to follow.  I’ll give you a special diet for body building.  For now I just want you to log in what you’re eating normally.  The most important thing for a body building competition is to eat clean.”

‘Eating clean’ in the body building world means sticking religiously to the meal plan.  No junk food, no alcohol, no deviations.  Period.  Little did I know at the time that the stupid food journal would become the bane of my existence.

But I give it the ol’ college try and log in my food.  Holy hell!  I was consuming like 2,200 calories, and half of it was just eating my kids’ leftovers.

Who knew?
