Goodbye

Goodbye ShesLosingit.com blog as you know it.  I started this blog in 2012 when I was 38 and overweight.  My goal in starting the blog had absolutely nothing to do with bodybuilding whatsoever.

No, I was going to be a romance novelist.  At that moment in time I had already written a book called Mind Your Manners Minnie Monster which won a Moms Choice Award and was looking to write something more adult.

I had rough drafts of two stories, one was a very complicated Scottish Highlander meets English aristocratic lady deal with some truly messed up twists and turns, and the other story was so risqué it could would make readers of 50 Shades of Grey blush.

Every author and agent I showed the stories to said that I was a good writer but I needed to develop an online presence before publishers would even look at my manuscripts.  They suggested I start blogging.

Blogging.  How scary that seemed to me!  What the heck would I write about?  Motherhood?  No, too personal, especially on a daily basis.  Romance stuff?  Like, entire posts about kissing and looking deep into someone’s eyes?  That stuff is fine for a good beach read, but I’m not sure that’s exactly the writing that defined me either.

Around that time I was also starting another thing that scared the crap out of me: bodybuilding.  My goal was to lose weight and look hot in a bikini in time for my 20th high school reunion, so I worked with a trainer, Daniel, to get me ready for a bodybuilding competition.

My husband, Henri, came home from work one day to find me buried in my office under a pile of free romance novels I got from the library, my son, Little Henry, running half naked in a diaper (I was potty-training him)

and my daughter, Rylee Brianna, eating from a jar of M&M’s, which were part of the potty-training thing but she took offense since she used the potty all the time and never got M&M’s for it.  But I digress.

“I’m starting a blog about bodybuilding, but I need a name for it,” I said.  He looked at me as though I was just as crazy.  My reasoning made perfect sense (to me).  I would blog about the weight loss/training process until the competition.  This would give me an online presence and a beginning, middle and end (with me looking hot in a bikini) should I decide to stop writing.

My husband said, “You’re going to potty train our son, do the accounting four our business, write a romance novel, lose weight by training for a bikini competition, and, since that’s apparently not enough, you’re going to start a blog, too?  ShesLosingIt.com.”

“That’s brilliant!” I said and never looked back.

Until now.

My little WordPress blog was perfect when I was starting out.  I never knew that it would lead me to turning my blog into a book, follow my fitness journey from placing dead last to first place in a bikini competition, and turn me into a professional writer who gets to interview people like Joan Lunden.

So now it’s time to say goodbye.

Tonight my website is being migrated over to a new platform that will hopefully look more professional.  It’s time.  And speaking of time, my web designer will be making the change in the middle of the night, so please pardon the technical difficulties if you are a fellow insomniac.

Thank you for following me original 1,000 people.  You are the chosen few who, I’m sure, will feel nostalgia for the blog post pictures that showed up ass-backwards on your cell phones since I’m middle aged and don’t know technology.  No longer will you have to wonder why the cover of my blog is a picture from four years ago, because I had some new ones done.

Anyway, I hope you like the new look.  See you tomorrow from a new page in a new chapter of my life.

Lisa 🙂
