Progress Pics and An Ironic Twist
Remember how yesterday I was whining informing you about what a giant time suck training for a fitness competition is turning out to be? Well, in an ironic twist, I now have to do even more training.
Why? you ask. Because yesterday I somehow managed to slightly pull my right adductor, which is the muscle that stretches from your groin to your knee, so now I have to do light physical therapy on it every day until the show. That’ll teach me to complain about time sucks, huh?
It happened when I was practicing my dance routine. The room was really cold (68 degrees) and I hadn’t warmed up long enough, so when I went from a deep lunge into a high kick my leg got all p***** off with me. But I iced it and went for a massage today and was told to foam roll it, get in the steam room at the gym for 2-5 minutes, and then swim 2 laps in the regular pool where the cold water will help. Pool therapy is kind of fun, actually.
In other news, here’s how I did with my June goals:
June Goals
- Prepare for my fitness competition. Status? Other than injuring myself, it’s going great!
- Finish our flip house. Status? So close. Yet, so far.
- Get my book to print (it should be available in August). Status? Really, really close! I just got my first book review and it was pretty decent, so I’m adding it to the back cover. Still on target for August release date.
- Hang out with my kids. Status? VICTORY! We’ve gone camping, swimming, visited the Children’s Museum, went to the Dino Dig, went to the library and caught up on Disney movies. (Frozen, anyone?)
- Buy a new computer and phone. (Those aren’t goals, just wish list items, but if I put it in writing it may actually happen.) Status? This so did not happen.
July Goals
- 1st half of July – Prepare for fitness competition and have a blast on show day.
- 2nd half of July – Read up on marketing so I actually sell my book.
FYI – Here are my progress pics on my splits, taken yesterday after rehearsal. You can tell I hurt myself – my splits actually regressed 🙁
How about you? Do you have any goals for July?
