Work-Family-Fitness Balance Ha Ha Ha
A favorite question interviewers ask powerful women (CEO’s, movie stars, etc.) is, “How do you balance work, family and fitness?” The answers vary, but here’s what I think the REAL answer is:
They are rich enough to afford help.
I’ve been preparing for my fitness competition at 5 a.m., spending mornings with the kids before the babysitter comes, and then doing construction on our flip house until about 7 p.m. This part is actually fine. I get good quality time with the little people, help our family business move forward, and stay on track with my fitness goals. Sometimes I even get a blog post out 😉
It’s just all the other s*** that gets in the way: laundry, paperwork, bills, dishes, vacuuming and pulling weeds so the HOA Nazis don’t give me a ticket for having a bad lawn.
That’s why I’ve decided that I really need to become rich. Some people dream of buying a big house. I have fantasies of hiring a cleaning service. That or having fairies sprinkle magic pixie dust all over my home and leaving it fresh-smelling and organized. Where are the elves when you need them?
I’m not alone in this, right? Cleaning is the first thing to go out the window, followed closely by dying your roots in a timely manner, yes?

YES! I’ve had a cleaning service come in a few times and it’s HEAVEN. Can’t afford it again anytime soon. But it’s a very nice birthday present!
Ooh – now I know what to ask for my next birthday!!!
I’m surprised you have time to blog, but I’m happy you do.
Thanks – I’m glad you blog too!
Not alone! I so wish I had enough cash to justify this! In the meantime the dust bunnies have established their homebase in our abode.
So glad I’m not alone! I was feeling like such a slacker!
