Do Your Homework. Now.
An ongoing goal I’ve been writing about of late is attempting to meet the four basic requirements of the NPC fitness routine for my next bodybuilding competition, namely:
- Push ups
- Splits
- Straddle hold
- High kicks
Since this stuff is new for me, I can’t just do it; I have to work on each item daily with small exercises that will eventually (in theory) progress into the actual strength move.
I hate homework.
Sometimes I hate exercise homework as much as my kids hate their school homework. Oh sure, I tell my kids, “practice makes perfect,” and “you have to learn to write letters before you can write stories” and blah, blah, blah, but that doesn’t mean I like applying it to my own life!
I don’t want to do 100 v-ups a day! I hate straddle holds! Flexibility stretches were not designed with 39 year-old women in mind, damnit!
You can’t make me do them!
Oh, alright. Fine. Here’s my straddle hold stretch.
But if you see me doing this at the gym, just know I’m only doing it because I don’t want the Pulp Fiction meme to come after me.
How about you? Is there a certain exercise you do that feels more like a chore?

DEF planks
I hate planks!
My coach give me leg raises to do and I hate them. I can’t seem to keep my back straight.
Oh the joy of leg exercises…
