Watermelon Turtle
Happy July 4th weekend! Oh sure, there will be burgers and hot dogs and beer for most people, but to me, a summer picnic is not complete without watermelon.
My friend Regina’s husband, Payman, made this watermelon turtle, which is way above my skillset, but I had to share.
Here’s what he did:
1. Cut watermelon in half
2. Scoop fruit insides into a bowl and cube them.
3. From the tops of each shell half, cut arms and a head.
4. Use toothpicks from the inside of the bottom shell to attach the legs and head.
5. Carve a pattern on the top part of shell for the turtle’s back.
6. Put watermelon cubes back in base of turtle and the shell on top.

Enjoy and have a safe and healthy holiday weekend!
