Blogger Challenge: A Typical Day in My Life

A typical day for me starts at 5 a.m. (note the very attractive bags under my eyes.)  I take my 10,000 supplements.  If I have a training session I eat first, but if it’s just a cardio morning I go to the gym on an empty stomach and do 45 minutes on the stepper.

On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays I do my ab routine after cardio.  Since I’m in bikini division I can’t do abs any more than that or I will look too ripped and bikini is supposed to look more soft and toned.

After my workout I go to the sauna for 10 minutes to stretch, then it’s off to the showers.  I’m home by 7:30 a.m.

Rylee is my early riser, so she is already up and watching Phineas & Ferb on Disney Jr. with a bowl of cheerios.  It’s not really educational, but I guess we all need a little fun in our lives.  Since she is entertained and my husband and son are still sleeping, I try to blast off a blog post.  Sometimes this happens; other days it’s just a draft until I can finish and post later.

8:00 a.m. The boys are up and I feed my son.  I take L-glutamine and eat meal #2 on my meal plan, usually egg whites and veggies.  My husband gets ready for work and runs around like a crazy person saying, “I’m so late!”  Yes, this is a daily occurrence, even though he is the owner of the company and can technically show up at any time.

8:30 a.m.  My husband asks me to stop blogging and help him find his a) keys, b) cell phone, c) lap top bag, d) all of the above.  Then he is out the door.

8:35 a.m.  My husband calls me to tell me he forgot his a) keys, b) cell phone, c) lap top bag, d) all of the above and I should wait outside with the missing item so he can pick them up.

9:00 a.m.  My kids storm the office and sit on my lap begging to use the computer.  If my post is done I let them play on Starfall, pbskids.org, nickjr.com and/or disneyjr.com.  I will freely admit, I usually fall asleep here, sometimes with my son on my lap clicking away on Umizoomi or, if I can sneak away, in my bed.  Bodybuilding is tiring.

10:00 a.m.  My kids jump on me and say, “Wake up, Mom!  Wake up, Mom!”  I look at the house and see all the cleaning I need to do.  Then I mentally say, “F*** it” and read Newsweek while the kids play in the backyard.

10:30 a.m. My kids pull me away from my magazine and I push them on the tire swing.

11:00 a.m. Everyone is hungry.  I take L-glutamine and eat meal #3 and my kids eat apple slices, carrots, or Raisin Bran for a snack.  They beg me for chocolate chip ice cream.  It’s summer so I cave and give them some after their snack.  (I know, I know!)

11:30 a.m. Time for sporting with Henry.  He loves baseball, golf and tackling me.  If you are wondering why he is not wearing pants in this picture, my answer is, “You’re lucky he’s wearing underwear!”  He loves going commando.  He’s kind of like Axel from the TV show, “The Middle.”  One minute he is fully clothed, the next minute he’s buck naked.

Noon.  The kids eat a light lunch and we do something educational.  Today it’s Spanish.  There is logic to this.  We live in Texas, with borders Mexico.  Lots of people speak Spanish here, including most of our tenants, so I’m learning Spanish as well.  Plus, I’ve read that learning a second language is easier the first five years of a child’s life.  My only fear about this is that my kids speak better Spanish than me and soon they will plot against me and I won’t know what they are saying…

12:30 p.m.  Rylee and Henry watch Jake and the Neverland Pirates, Little Einsteins, SuperWhy and/or Sid the Science Kid while I do tedious housework, usually laundry.  I hate laundry.

Someday when I win the lottery I will hire a maid to clean the house for me.  I see a commercial for High School Musical 2.   Well, paint me red and call me a cougar, High School Musical kid grew up! Hmm, as long as I’m in the world of things that will never happen, I will hire Zac Efron to fold the laundry for me.  But I digress.

1:30 p.m.  Nap time for Henry.  This turns into nap time for Lisa too.  We cuddle and fall asleep while Rylee plays upstairs.

2:00 p.m.  Rylee gets bored and wakes me up.  We leave Henry sleeping and have “girl time.”  Today we make headbands.  (And if you are wondering, “Are those Easter Eggs on the tablecloth?”  Yes, yes they are Easter eggs.  My kitchen table is glass because I’m an idiot and since I can’t stand 10,000 fingerprints I keep a tablecloth on it.)  I take L-glutamine and eat meal #4.

3:00 p.m.  More tedious housework.  Unloading and reloading the dishwasher.  More laundry.  Sweeping up the kitchen.  Gathering up the toys and putting them away while Rylee plays on the computer.

4:00 p.m. Henry wakes up.  He is naked from the waist down.  Time to hunt down his pants.  Today we go to the pool at 24 Hour Fitness and splash around.

5:00 pm.  I make dinner for everyone.  The kids play with Play Duh at the kitchen table while I cook.

6:00 p.m.  Henry comes home from work and then it’s mass chaos!  The kids tackle him and race around the house and use him like a jungle gym.  Today we go outside and Little Henry sits on Big Henry’s lap and Rylee sits on mine and we have a race on the swings.  (The boys win today.)

7:30 p.m.  Bath time then PJ’s.  I make the kids laugh doing sumo squats while imitating Kung Fu Panda.  (Yes, I am aware that Sumo wrestling is from Japan and Kung Fu Panda is from China, but these geography nuances are lost on the kids.)

8:00 p.m. Bedtime* (*this process can take FOREVER!!!!)  My husband and I divide and conquer, each taking a child.  We read a story, say prayers, kiss good night and then wait for the kids to come out of bed 100 times in a row.  By 9:30 they are asleep and we are cranky.

9:30 p.m.  I take L-glutamine and eat meal #5.  I go back to the gym.  Warm up for 10 minutes then lift weights.

10:45 p.m.  Come home.  If I haven’t posted a blog, I go online and do so.  I try to check FB and my email but sometimes posting a blog is about all I can do.

11:30 p.m.  I crash on the couch next to my hubby.  We finally talk about his day.  He eats chips and I drink protein powder.  We watch House Hunters International and dream about buying a castle in Italy.

Midnight.  Go to bed.  🙂

How about you?  What does your typical day look like?
