Make A Vet Sweat – Bodybuilding Competition

At the start of the New Year Westdale Real Estate asked me to lead their corporate wellness program, a true privilege.  Fifteen people signed up and received a sample meal plan, goal setting and motivational packets, an exercise routine that could be modified for their home or gym and lots of tips and tricks about everything from nutrition to time management.

As part of this program we volunteered our time and money to do weekly boot camps in February in honor of Make A Vet Sweat (MAVS).  MAVS is a charity that supports veterans dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).  Many soldiers come back from war in Afghanistan and Iraq with PSTD and have a tough time adjusting back to civilian life.  MAVS sponsors gym membership for the veteran and his/her spouse to go work through some of that stress in a positive way through physical activity.

Our goal is to raise $300 to support one veteran for 3 months.  If you would like to find out more about MAVS or sponsor a vet click here: https://makeavetsweat.org/donate/

One of the Westdale Real Estate group team, Karen Temborius, is also going to compete in the MAVS bodybuilding competition at the end of March.  Karen’s story is pretty inspiring, so keep your eyes open for a future post about her…

The boot camps were fun and each week we focused on a different  muscle group (booty and legs, upper body, abs and core and full body).

This weekend we will be having the final boot camp, a family fitness boot camp to get kids involved too.  Children learn by example, so we thought it would be a good idea for them to see their moms and dads sweating alongside them, and feel even better at the end knowing that they are raising money for a good cause.

Here are some pictures from the boot camps:

Parachute runs

Push ups

Getting fit while raising money for a good cause?  Sounds like a win-win to me!  If you would like to find out more about MAVS or sponsor a vet click here: https://makeavetsweat.org/donate/
