Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving!  Yes, I know it’s not even Halloween yet, but all the magazines have been having Thanksgiving recipes and it made me want to cook a little early.  Look!  I made this:

And it actually tasted good!  It’s not really a turkey, it’s a small chicken, but we all know I need the practice.  According to the Calorie Control Council, the average American will consume more than 4,500 calories and 229 grams of fat on Thanksgiving Day alone.  It seems like the fall-winter is just a giant season to fatten us up: Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and (if you are a big drinker) New Year’s.

Previously, I fought these holiday temptations by signing up for bodybuilding or pole dance competitions in November – January, but this year I just won’t be able to since I’m caring for my mom.

Oh, by the way, Operation Skirt Zip was a success!  We took our family photo on Friday and my skirt zipped all the way up, except to the tippy-tippy top where there is that little gold hook they put on fancy skirts to make you feel bad about eating food and attempting to sit afterwards.    So I think I’ll have to sign up for a glamor shot/bikini photo session or something in early December to keep me motivated enough to eat kale.

Are you thinking about Christmas yet?  Me too.  If you’re Santa reading this blog post, here’s what I want:

  1. Cooking lessons.  I’m sure food will taste much better if I learn how to season (and not burn) it.
  2. A trip to a beach destination.
  3. World peace.
  4. Knowledge of the secret location where all the socks go when they escape the dryer.
  5. A new dryer that actually dries the clothes the first time.
  6. A person (other than me) who will clean the house.
  7. Sneakers.

Hey, if you are making up your holiday wish list you know what you could add to it?  My book!  She’s Losing It! will be on sale just in time for Christmas.  🙂

How about you?  Are you already thinking about the next holiday or are you still focused on Halloween?
