Calling All Blue Bonnets

Happy Easter!  20130330_130616

We went on a road trip to the Hill Country to find some blue bonnets.  For those of you not from Texas, the blue bonnet is the state flower and is a wild flower that comes out in the spring.  You will see lots of families, particularly with young children, dress their kids up in their Easter clothes and plop them in the middle of a blue bonnet patch.

We saw some yellow flowers.

We saw the blue….Lake Travis.  (I hope those people didn’t mind us traipsing through their backyard on our little quest.)  20130330_190738

We did not see any blue bonnets.  What kind of a state flower is this anyway?

Was it being shy???20130330_185544

Henri was tired of driving.  The kids needed the bathroom.  No one was particularly interested in me Googling “blue bonnets” and “Austin” for a second attempt after Easter service.  We stopped at a gas station as my little spontaneous-won’t -this-be-fun idea put our car down to fumes.  My cool smart phone that takes totally awesome pictures ran out of juice too, so all we had was Henri’s old phone, but it was no big deal really.

And that’s when we saw them…

On this Easter Sunday, may you find whatever you seek.
