Back from Staycation

This past week was spring break, but in our family it was more like a staycation.  I’m a personal trainer, so I was still up at 4 a.m. to get to the gym and train my clients, and I had to do the paperwork stuff for our real estate business.  But it’s amazing how much extra time I had not homeschooling my kids this week.  It was really nice to not have to grade papers or plod my kids to get their math done.

We focused on fun things this week, like going to Lake Pflugerville…

Climbing at Lake Pflugerville

Taking Bruno for walks…

Having a few play dates, going to a trampoline place and bowling on St. Patrick’s Day.

We also saw “Wonder” at the ‘Tween Movie Night at our library. OMG, there was a reason why I didn’t see that movie when it was in theaters:  I WAS BAWLING MY EYES OUT!  For, like, at least 75% of the movie.  But it was so moving, and so well done.

On Friday I went to a networking luncheon with Texas Women In Business (TWIB).  Now that my kids are older I’m able to focus more on growing my personal training business, which is nerve-wracking and thrilling at the same time.

On that front, I’m also super excited to report that I will begin writing for Bowflex!  My first fitness column will appear in May.  When it’s up and running I’ll send out the links.  They also sent me the banner from the event I did in Dallas with Tom Holland.  Can’t wait to hang that up at the gym!

I’m writing for Bowflex now!

In other news my client Karen is getting ready to do her first bikini competition next weekend.  I’m so excited for her!  It’s so rewarding for me as her trainer to get pictures of her wearing dresses that she hadn’t been able to fit into in years and to see how strong and confident she looks.  I’ll write up a post about her soon.  Right now we’re making sure she gets all her bikini posing practice in.

My own bikini competition training is chugging along.  I have to register for the federation today and then choose which categories I want to compete in.

Totally fun side note.  One of the ladies I met at TWIB is a boudoir photographer, so I decided to do a 1940’s pin up girl photo shoot for my website.  My aim is to have some pictures that look classy/sexy and it gives me a reason to find some vintage costumes.  I also want to do a Rosy the Riveter pic in the mix.  Hopefully they will turn out well so when I’m in my 70’s I can bust those photos out and embarrass my grandkids 😉

How about you?  Did you do anything fun for spring break?

Lisa 😉

  1. Sounds like a perfect staycation because you got to have more family fun time. That climbing thing at the lake looks like fun. When I visit with Tiki, can we go there? Also that boudoir shoot sounds like fun! You’ll be amazing!!
