Change is Possible
When you are doing something difficult, like getting healthy or training for something you’ve never done before like a Spartan Run, there will be days when it seems too hard to keep going.
You might feel like you’re busting your butt doing everything “right” and nothing is happening. The scale isn’t lowering. Your clothes are still tight. Your body is sore.
You might see other friends, family or co-workers drop 15 lbs. like it was nothing and feel scared that you will never get fit. You’re too old, too busy, past your prime.
When you’re feeling down, it’s time to dig deep and say this mantra:
Change is possible.
Some people get caught up in the “no excuses” phrase. There is a time and a place for going hardcore, but before you get to that point you have to really, truly believe that you can get fit.
I didn’t enter my first bikini competition until I was 38, and after having two kids. I won my first bikini competition at age 41. That alone should give you hope if you’re feeling that you can’t get fit if you’re middle aged.
Last year I did a competition where the overall bikini winner was a woman who was 55! She beat out women literally half her age.
So don’t buy into all that crap that magazines, the media and I daresay some men say – that women over 40 will never be as sexy as they were in their 20s, or that women must resign themselves to looking frumpy after menopause. I call BS on that.
Change is possible. You have to want it. You have to work for it. But it’s yours for the taking.
