Run Faster – Workout by Olympian David Neville
Pretty soon into the process of training for my half marathon I realized that I needed some help. I run slower than molasses drips in the middle of winter.
Fortunately, my teammate from “American Grit”, David Neville, just so happens to be an Olympic Gold and Bronze Medalist.
Let me tell you a little bit about David. He was a track and field athlete and ran the 4x400m relay and the 400m dash in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. During one of the races he stumbled and fell down…then he GOT BACK UP and still won a Bronze medal! Holy smokes that’s fast! Not only does that show you he knows a thing or two about speed but that he also knows what it means to never quit and to give your all to the very end.
David is a preacher, motivational speaker, and track and field coach at Taylor University. He also married our other teammate Mark (the Lumberjack) this past fall.
I told him that I was running a half marathon to raise money for medical expenses for my friend’s son, JJ, who was in a horrific car crash before Thanksgiving and is paralyzed from the neck down. Without hesitation David made a quick training video to help improve running speed to share with all of you, and ended it with a prayer for JJ.
It’s interesting to learn how much technique comes to play in running faster. In this video David talks about arm and foot placement during runs and demonstrates how to do a high knee drill properly. I hope you enjoy it!
If you like this video, please share it with as many of your friends as possible and remember to check out JJ’s fundraising page:
Thank you David for making this training video! (You can follow David on Twitter @Dneville3 and Instagram @Davidneville3).
