Am I Pregnant?

Yum, pickles!
Yum, pickles!

My husband came home the other night and looked at me kinda strangely.  The front room was meticulously clean and I was sitting at the kitchen table eating directly out of a jar of kosher pickles.  “Are you pregnant or something?” he asked.

Going through show prep is similar in many ways to being pregnant.  Subtle changes in the amount of protein eaten, a switch from brown rice carbs to mostly carbs from vegetable and fruit, increase or decrease of cardio, all these seemingly minor changes have a big impact on your body.

The final four or five weeks can drive a person crazy (just like the last trimester of pregnancy.)  You’re tired from intensified workouts, moody from the diet switch up and can’t wait for show day to come so your life can become a little less disciplined.  Sticking to the meal plan is the toughest part because you begin craving all the things you’ve denied yourself for the past two months.

  • My first show, sugar free gum was my bestest friend ever.
  • Last show I was all about Brooke’s Lemon Meringue “cookies”.  You can read the recipe here:  Cookies
  • Now:  I have a strange fondness for pickles.  (Insert your dirty joke *here*)

In short, no, I am not pregnant.  My body is just a giant science project right now.

You know, those cookies look really good…

Enough blogging, Ima bake now.

How about you?  What foods to you eat to stick to your diet?
