Happy Easter!

My keyboard is sticky with the remnants of chocolate bunnies my kids were eating while playing on pbskids.org.  I limited them to two bunnies each, plus a few peanut butter cups, peeps and Easter eggs.  With the current rate of consumption, all the chocolate will be out of my house by tomorrow.  Yay!  My husband thinks it’s too much chocolate; the kids should only get one very, very small bunny.  But where’s the fun in that?

Chocolate bunnies are a tradition that I cherish from childhood.  Even though I’m a health blogger and personal trainer, I’m still human and believe the occasional treat for the kids is part of a well-balanced lifestyle.

A new tradition I’m loving is one that is specific to Texas.  Each spring Texans plant their kids in the middle of a field of blue bonnets and take pictures.  Rylee loves this, because it means she gets to pick flowers and wear her pretty Easter dress a little longer.

My son, Henry, goes into outright rebellion, because not only does he NOT want to smile for my camera, he also hates my taste in clothing for him and would rather wear a bathing suit and football helmet to church.  His exact words to me were, “Mom, why do you dress me like the President?”

I can’t help myself.  He looks so adorable in a dress shirt and tie.  I guess I dress them up because my family always dressed up for church.  And I guess I give them chocolate bunnies because that’s how my family celebrated Easter.

How about you?  Do you have any Easter or springtime traditions?
