August Goals – How Did I Do?
Every month I set goals for myself and then check back at the end of the month to see how much (or little) I accomplished.
August Goals – Results
- Return to my exercise routine. Results? So-so. I had surgery in July and getting back to my routine has been really hit-or-miss. The best part has been going back to booty camp on Sundays and seeing my friends from Mel’s Machines. It’s way more fun doing lunges in a group than alone. Lifting weights has been difficult; I lost a lot of balance. I’m still not allowed to do any core exercises and cardio beyond 20 minutes is painful. I guess the main thing I’m exercising right now is patience and it’s driving me nuts, so it must be good for me, right? 😉
- Get my family to eat clean for breakfast. Results? Pretty good. My husband, Henri, is now eating smoothies for breakfast instead of McDonald’s drive-thru. That alone is a victory. Most mornings my son is willing to eat oatmeal/sweet potato pancakes (but only if I tell him it’s Bisquick). My daughter, Rylee, is a hardcore Raisin Bran fan and clings to her cereal for dear life, so I’m letting it slide. There are worse cereals out there.
- School bootcamp. Results? Satisfactory. I don’t know about you, but I used to totally forget everything I learned the previous year during summer vacation, which made my first month back at school more difficult than it had to be. So I decided to ease the kids back into the school mindset towards the end of the month. Little Henry can trace numbers and can write a few letters now. Rylee practiced spelling sight words. Both kids practiced math on starfall.com and on some free aps I downloaded to my phone. College scouts from Harvard won’t be knocking on our door anytime soon, but at least the kids can start the year coming from a good base.
How about you? How did you do on your goals?
